For a place in the UEFA Women's Nations League semi-finals. Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona will go head-to-head on Wednesday, March 25th at 18:45h, aiming to qualify for the next round in the first of three clashes between the two sides in a single week. The Whites arrive at the fixture in their best form of the season. Pau Quesada's team, currently 2nd in Liga F Moeve with 56 points, have secured seven consecutive victories, the last five without conceding a single goal. The Madrid club reached the Champions League quarter-finals by beating Paris FC 2-3 and 2-0. Tere Abelleira is confirmed as out due to an ACL injury, while Maëlle Lakrar and Signe Bruun are doubts for the match against the Catalan club.
Furthermore, the Whites will be looking to break their 'glass ceiling', as they have never progressed beyond the quarter-finals. Facing them will be an FC Barcelona, who have only lost one match in Liga F Moeve and finished top of their Champions League group, thus securing direct passage to the quarter-finals. The Blaugranas have won three matches in a row and are on a twenty-four-game unbeaten streak (twenty-two wins and just two draws). Pere Romeu will be without Mapi León and Laia Aleixandri, who suffered an ACL tear, and Aitana Bonmatí due to injury. Kika Nazareth is a doubt, with the Portuguese player finishing the last match with discomfort. The Catalan side have reached six of the last seven Champions League finals, winning three of them (2021, 2023, and 2024).
The Second Quarter-Final Tie Between Both Teams
This will be the second time in history that Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona face each other in the quarter-finals of Europe's premier competition. The first time these two teams met in the Champions League was in the 2021/2022 season, during Madrid's first European participation. The Catalan club won 1-3 away at the Di Stéfano, and 5-2 in front of the 91,553 spectators who attended the clash at the Camp Nou. Madrid and Barcelona have already met three times this season, all ending in victories for the Blaugranas, who won 4-0 in the reverse fixture of Liga F Moeve, 2-0 in the Spanish Super Cup final, and 0-4 in the Copa de la Reina quarter-finals.
