Sonia Bermúdez reveals the squad list to face Iceland and Ukraine

The Spanish national team list brought many new faces for the clashes against Iceland and Ukraine in the qualification phase for the 2027 World Cup. Misa and Enith Salón return to the goalkeeper position. Aiara Agirrezabala makes her debut, and Sandra Villafañe and Martina come into defence. Ornella is the big surprise in attack.

Revolution in the Selección española. A new path opens for La Roja on their journey towards the 2027 Brazil World Cup. With Cata Coll, Mapi León and Aitana Bonmatí sidelined, in addition to the absences of Irene Paredes and Jenni Hermoso, coach Sonia Bermúdez has put together a squad of 25 players with many young talents. In goal, the two major new additions are Misa Rodríguez, who hasn't played for Spain since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and Enith Salón. Both are world champions. Meanwhile, in defence, Aiara Agirrezabala makes her debut, having shone in Liga F Moeve on Real Sociedad's left flank. Additionally, Sandra Villafañe, a centre-back for Madrid CFF, and Martina Fernández, who plays for Everton, are the other new additions.

The other big surprise in the squad list comes in the forward line, where Ornella Vignola, who also represents Everton, joins La Roja's attack. In total, this squad features 15 players from six different Liga F Moeve teams. FC Barcelona, with seven players, Real Madrid CF, with four, and Atlético de Madrid, Madrid CFF, Real Sociedad and Athletic Club, all with one each, are represented. The two matches corresponding to the qualification phase for the 2027 Brazil World Cup will be played on Tuesday, March 3rd at 19:00h against Iceland at the Castalia stadium (Castellón), and on Saturday, March 7th at 18:00h against Ukraine in Antalya (Turkey). Sonia Bermúdez's side will be looking for two victories in this first international break of the year.
