Real Sociedad narrowly defeat the 'invincible' FC Barcelona
Real Sociedad stunned FC Barcelona with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a penalty converted by Edna, underlining the superb form of the Gipuzkoan side, who now sit third in the Champions League places, level on 20 points with Real Madrid. FC Barcelona, for their part, pushed in every possible way but were hampered by injuries to Pajor, Paralluelo and Guijarro, suffering their first defeat of the season in Liga F Moeve. The Azulgrana remain top, holding a four-point lead over Real Madrid and Real Sociedad.

In the early stages of the match, the Blaugrana side took control of possession, but the txuri-urdin remained competitive and showed effectiveness around international goalkeeper Cata Coll's goal, with Edna, MVP of the match, as their main threat in attack.
The clearest chance for Pere Romeu's side came in the 21st minute, after a cross from the right wing by Cámara travelled across the six-yard box to the far post, where Brugts connected with a shot that María Molina saved off the line.
In the 37th minute, Real Sociedad's coach, Arturo Ruiz, used the Football Video Support to claim a penalty for handball by Laia Alexandri, which the referee confirmed, and Edna stepped up to convert, perfectly deceiving Cata Coll to make it 1-0.
Before half-time, both teams had two clear chances. Cahynova headed a corner, which went slightly over, and Graham delivered a cross into the box from the right wing which Alexia narrowly missed connecting with.
In the second half, the Barcelona side continued to dominate the game, while Real Sociedad defended resolutely, trying to hit on the counter-attack. In the 57th minute, Edna tried to catch Cata Coll off her line from near the halfway line, but her shot went wide.
Pere Romeu made substitutions, and Graham continued to pose the greatest danger down the right wing, but the Blaugrana continued to be thwarted by the solid Real Sociedad defence. The clearest chance came in the 85th minute, with a header from Irene Paredes following a corner, which goalkeeper Julia Arrula saved with a superb intervention, showing great confidence throughout the match.
In the final moments of the match, Fenger flicked on a ball in the six-yard box from a corner which found its way into the home goal, but it was disallowed for offside, leaving the score at 1-0 with no time left.
