Maddi Torre salvages a draw for Athletic Club
The spoils are shared (2-2) between Athletic Club and RCD Espanyol. Both teams took to the Lezama pitch with the aim of securing all three points. Four minutes into the game, a fine pass from Ona Baradad was finished by Iara Lacosta from inside the area to open the scoring. The blue and white players celebrated with a hug involving the entire bench, including Sara Monforte. Athletic Club attempted to score from a set-piece, but Romane Salvador decisively saved the action. At the other end, Iara Lacosta tried her luck, but the forward's shot struck the home defence. Eunate Astralaga also diverted a powerful strike from Paula Gutiérrez from inside the area to a corner. Just past the half-hour mark, the Bilbao side equalised. Maite Valero executed a backheel flick to get past her defender and connected with Ane Azkona from inside the box. The forward from Navarre made no mistake to level the match.
At the other end, Anita Marcos threatened, but the forward could not get past her defender from inside the area. A play later, Júlia Guerra was sent off for a challenge on Nerea Benito. And, Maddi Torre rescued a point for the Basque club with a header from inside the area following a free-kick from wide. Romane Salvador and the crossbar kept the final score level.
