Pere Romeu's side came out attacking, but they encountered a real wall, the FC Badalona Women defence. The Blaugrana had possession from the start, and nine minutes into the match, Ewa Pajor was close to connecting with a well-placed cross from Claudia Pina. Vicky López also tried her luck with a shot that went wide. María Valenzuela showed her good reflexes to save a shot from Claudia Pina. FC Barcelona tried again and again, but couldn't breach the home goal. Ewa Pajor tried an effort that crashed against the home defence, while Patri Guijarro tried her luck with a shot over the bar. Before half-time, both goalkeepers had to intervene again to keep the score 0-0 at the end of the first forty-five minutes.

After the break, FC Barcelona tried, but still couldn't find a way to goal. María Valenzuela, who made up to six saves throughout the match, became a giant between the posts. A superb save from the Granada-born goalkeeper sent a Patri Guijarro shot wide for a corner. She then denied Ewa Pajor a goal, and later Alexia. In the 65th minute, Pere Romeu appealed for a possible handball penalty by María Llompart, which the referee did not award. The home side, who were defending deep, almost surprised with a cross from Lice Chamorro that Itziar Pinillos headed over. At the other end, Valenzuela reappeared to rectify her own error and save a shot from Salma from inside the box. The tie will be decided next Wednesday 18 March at 21:00h at the Johan Cruyff.
