After the two-week international break, the Spanish competition returns this weekend for matchday twenty-two of LigaF Moeve. In total, three more matchdays will be played before the next FIFA window in April. This is a month that will also see the Copa de la Reina semi-finals and the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finals. This stage of the season precedes the final sprint towards the end of the campaign. FC Barcelona will aim to maintain their ten-point cushion at the top, while Real Madrid CF and Real Sociedad will also seek to hold onto second and third place respectively. Meanwhile, the mid-table is more evenly matched than ever, with DUX Logroño, Alhama CF ElPozo, and Levante UD battling it out in this final stretch to stay in the division.
The Race for the Top and for the Champions League
FC Barcelona leads Liga F Moeve with 60 points, having suffered only one defeat in the domestic championship this season. The Catalan side will be looking to maintain their ten-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid CF. Madrid are just three points ahead of third-placed Real Sociedad. These two clubs, aiming to continue in the Champions League qualification spots, will face each other this weekend in the standout match of matchday twenty-two. Costa Adeje Tenerife currently occupies 4th place with 36 points, the same as Sevilla FC, who, like the Tenerife side, are also having a magnificent season. Atlético de Madrid are in 6th position with 32 points, fifteen points adrift of the European places.
Equality in the Mid-Table
One of the competition's key characteristics is the parity in the middle of the table, with up to four teams separated by just one point. Coincidentally, these four clubs will face each other on matchday twenty-two. Madrid CFF currently holds 7th position with 30 points. Sánchez Vera's team will visit Lezama to face Athletic Club. The Bilbao side are level on 29 points with FC Badalona Women and Granada CF, who will also play each other this weekend. Among these three teams, the Catalan outfit, who will compete in the Copa de la Reina semi-finals in March, sits in 8th place due to a superior goal difference to their direct rivals. The Granada team, with only one defeat in 2026, is 9th, while the Bilbao side are tenth.
The Fight to Avoid Relegation
At this stage of the championship, both Deportivo Abanca (23 points) and RCD Espanyol (21 points) are looking to secure their place in the First Division. SD Eibar is looking to end their poor run of form. The Basque side has accumulated six consecutive defeats, placing them 13th in Liga F Moeve with 17 points, just eight points above the relegation zone. The three teams battling it out head-to-head to remain in the top flight next season are DUX Logroño, Alhama CF ElPozo, and Levante UD. Logroño currently occupy the final safety spot with 10 points, just one point ahead of the Murcia team, who haven't won in the league since October 5th, five months ago. The bottom club is Levante UD, but with 8 points on the board, the Granotas are more alive than ever.
