To mark World Cancer Day, celebrated every 4th of February, the Asociación Española contra el Cáncer launched an initiative during the weekend of January 31st and February 1st, which has now become one of the most emblematic actions in Spanish sport, and was joined by over 320 clubs, more than 1,000 athletes, and over 350 stadiums. The objective was to raise awareness of the fight against cancer and show the support of professional football for those living with the disease every day. Liga F clubs joined the campaign, which also involved LALIGA and the Real Federación Española de Fútbol, demonstrating their strong commitment to giving visibility to various social causes.
Players, coaches, technical staff, and referees wore the green armband, known as the “Armband of Hope”, a symbol of hope for those suffering from the disease, during the matches played on Matchday 18. Furthermore, the green ribbon has also become a means of raising awareness and showing solidarity through sport. This initiative not only seeks to raise awareness in society but also to bring sport closer to people suffering from cancer, their families, and their caregivers. Once again, Liga F and Spanish football donned hope alongside the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer, using the competition's platform and its protagonists.
