Fifteen minutes into the game, the referee awarded a penalty for a pull by Inés Altamira on Jensen. Fiamma Benítez took responsibility from the penalty spot, but the shot from the Denia native struck the woodwork directly. A few minutes later, Fiamma herself tried again with a shot from the edge of the box, but Sofía Fuente, who made up to six saves throughout the match, intervened crucially to keep the ball out. Both players faced off again before half-time, but, once more, the young goalkeeper showed quick reflexes to prevent the Madrid side from scoring.
Deportivo Alavés had the last chance of the first half. Andrea Gómez headed a ball into the box, but the referee ultimately disallowed the play for offside against the 'Babazorro' player. Both coaches made changes for the second half. Sarah Brasero came into the midfield for 'Las Gloriosas', while Allegra Poljak and Amaiur Sarriegi did the same for the Madrid team. The first big chance of the second half fell to Jensen, but, again, a crucial save from Sofía Fuente denied the forward, who threw her hands to her head lamenting the missed opportunity. Club Atlético de Madrid Femenino also had a chance to take the lead with a shot from the corner of the box, but the ball crashed against the crossbar. Sofía Fuente continued her string of saves, keeping her team in the game.
The visiting side maintained the draw thanks to the goalkeeper's saves; she had an outstanding match. One of the clearest chances was a shot from Allegra Poljak that the 'Babazorro' goalkeeper saved. The rebound fell to Amaiur, but Laia Parera made a crucial clearance off the goal line to keep a clean sheet. Maite Zubieta also had a great chance, with a long-range shot that went straight into the hands of a confident Sofía Fuente, who safely gathered the ball. It seemed the match was heading for a draw until, in the very last play of the match, a cross from Luany, who was the MVP of the clash, was flicked in by Jensen with her heel. The ball caught the Vitoria-based side's defence and goalkeeper by surprise, leaving them unable to prevent the goal.
