Liga F Moeve matches its most competitive championships

The gap in the standings between FC Barcelona, leaders of Liga F Moeve, and Real Madrid CF, who sit second, is two points. This mirrors the difference seen after the first seven matchdays in both the 2022/2023 and 2024/2025 seasons. It's the first time that no team has remained unbeaten in this initial phase.

Following FC Barcelona's 2-1 defeat to Real Sociedad in Zubieta, and the white-clad team's victory, the Catalan club saw their lead at the top of Liga F Moeve cut. After the first seven league matchdays, only two points separate the blaugrana club, leaders of the competition with 18 points, from Real Madrid CF, who are second with 16 points. Furthermore, this is the first time in the competition's history that no team has remained unbeaten after this initial league phase. This two-point gap between the first and second-placed teams matches the most competitive championships. In the 2022/2023 season, the first designated as a professional league, there was also a two-point difference between the top two positions, although in that case, three teams were unbeaten: FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF, and Real Sociedad.

For their part, after the first seven matchdays of the 2023/2024 season, three points separated the top two teams, and only FC Barcelona remained undefeated. The gap narrowed again to two points in the 2024/2025 season, where FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF, and Atlético de Madrid all remained unbeaten. Lastly, in the 2025/2026 season, seven points separated the first and second-placed teams, the largest point difference, and again, only FC Barcelona could boast of not having lost any matches. Additionally, this season, with the exception of Valencia CF, who are the only team yet to secure any points in this league start, parity is also evident across the rest of the league table, with a maximum difference of only two points between clubs in all other areas of the standings.

Currently, there are five teams level on 8 points in the mid-table: RCD Espanyol, Deportivo Abanca, FC Badalona Women, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla FC, while there are also two teams tied on 11 points in the upper-mid table: Costa Adeje Tenerife and SD Eibar. Compared to the top five European leagues, the gap at the top of the English Women's Super League is just two points after their first six matchdays. Meanwhile, the difference between the top two teams stands at three points in both the French Première Ligue and the German Bundesliga, after playing five and seven matchdays respectively. Italy's Serie A is the most tightly contested championship to date, with three teams level at the top, although only the first three matchdays have been played in the Italian league.
