“Extremely grateful for the trust, for the opportunities I'm being given here. I look to the future and I'm delighted to be able to continue at this club, with my teammates, and with the project that's going to unfold,” stated Elene Gurtubay (3 October 2007, Bilbao) in her first words after renewing her contract until 2029 with Athletic Club. Developed at CD San Inazio, the midfielder arrived at Lezama in the summer of 2024 from Bizkerre FT to join the *rojiblanco* reserve team. In her first season as a 'lioness', she played 26 matches and scored 5 goals with the B team. A performance that saw her consolidate her place in the first team's dynamics the following year, making her debut on 7 December 2025 in the 1-0 victory against Levante UD at Lezama.
An unforgettable day for a footballer who, just a week later, scored her first goal in the 2-0 victory against Madrid CFF at Fernando Torres. Throughout the season, the midfielder played 813 minutes in Liga F Moeve across 18 matches, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist. She also played 2 Copa de la Reina matches and 1 Supercopa de España match. “I've only been here for two years. It's all happened quite quickly. Because I started in the B team, then in my first year I started training with the first team. Last year I made the jump to Primera División, and this year I'm taking a step forward by renewing here, and I'm very grateful,” confessed the footballer, who has scored 2 goals in 8 matches during the reserve team's promotion to Primera RFEF.

Furthermore, at an international level, the midfielder continues to establish herself as one of the most promising footballers in Liga F Moeve, and this summer she has won the U19 European Championship for the second consecutive year after defeating Germany 1-0 in the final. The Athletic Club footballer scored 1 goal in 379 minutes across 5 matches played throughout the tournament. “It's a joy and a source of pride to represent this club because it's the club of my life. And I'm extremely happy to be able to represent them in all matches and all training sessions,” concluded the midfielder, who is one of the great gems of the Basque club's academy. The Bilbao-born player aims to continue growing and finally break into the first team to establish herself in Primera.
