Before the start of the match, the Eibar side paid tribute to defender Carla Andrés with a commemorative shirt for her 100 matches as an Eibar player. The first chance of the match fell to Clara Pinedo. The attacking midfielder tried her luck with a shot from mid-range, but her effort went well wide. The reply came from Sara Martín. The winger received a pass from Adela Rico and tried her fortune with a cross-shot that hit the side netting, to the relief of Adriana Nanclares. At the other end, Maite Zubieta capitalised on a pass back from Sara Ortega to attempt a shot that missed the opposition goal by mere centimetres. The midfielder, like her teammate Ane Elexpuru, also reached 100 appearances as a Lioness.

In the second half, Javier Lerga's side continued to push for a goal at the opposition net. The first chance of the second forty-five minutes came from Maite Valero's head, who attempted a powerful header that went wide. Ane Azkona and Daniela Agote entered the pitch to try and change the pace of the match. Indeed, the winger produced a great individual run and laid the ball back for the arriving Clara Pinedo, but the attacking midfielder's shot again went over the bar. The Eibar defence continued to withstand the attacks from the *rojiblancas*, who were spurred on again by Jone Amezaga. The attacker returned to action after overcoming an injury. And, indeed, the next two chances fell to the forward from Biscay, but both lacked fortune.

The first was cleared by the home defence, while the second went well wide. In the final stretch, Eunate Astralaga made a superb save from a powerful shot by Daniela Agote from inside the box. Their persistence paid off, as in the very last play of the match, and just when it seemed the game would end in a draw, Sara Ortega sent a ball into the heart of the box. Alimata Belem cleared the ball, but it fell to Maite Valero who passed it to the far post, where Daniela Agote, completely unmarked, only had to tap it into the net to make it 0-1 on the scoreboard. The winger was the MVP of the match. Athletic Club rediscovered their winning ways to climb to mid-table with 29 points, while Eibar have now accumulated six consecutive defeats.
