With Adriana Nanclares in goal and Inma Gabarro as the spearhead in attack, the Spanish national team took to the Castalia stadium with the firm intention of securing the three points. The first big chance of the match fell to Vicky López. The player from Vallecas ventured a shot from inside the box which Cecilia Runarsdottir comfortably saved. La Roja continued to press, and Laia Codina, from a corner, also came close to scoring, but the centre-back was also unlucky not to find the net. The clearest opportunity came from a header by Vicky from inside the area that the Icelandic goalkeeper managed to clear off the line. The game was an onslaught from Sonia Bermúdez's side, who tried again with a header from Inma Gabarro that went over the crossbar. Around the half-hour mark, Claudia Pina tried her luck with a long-range shot that went out for a corner. 

Sonia Bermúdez's team insisted time and again, and, once more, Laia Codina could have scored with a header that didn't find the opponent's goal. In the 35th minute, Runarsdottir intervened again to save a thunderous strike from Ona Batlle from outside the area. La Roja's persistence paid off just three minutes later. Claudia Pina unleashed a rocket from outside the box that the Icelandic keeper slightly touched, but couldn't hold onto. The players from the Nordic team appealed for a potential foul, which the referee did not award. 

In the 54th minute, Claudia Pina shone again. The FC Barcelona forward created space for herself inside the area and unleashed a powerful shot that flew into the back of the net to complete her brace. Alexia came close to scoring, but it was Edna Imade who ultimately took advantage of a pass from Ona Batlle to seal the definitive 3-0 scoreline.
