The battle for the runner-up spot is heating up for the final stretch of the competition

With four matchdays remaining in the season, and FC Barcelona already crowned Liga F Moeve champions, there are many battles still to be decided. One of these is the fight for the runners-up spot between Real Madrid CF (2nd with 60 points) and Real Sociedad (3rd with 57 points), with the head-to-head record favouring the Madrid side.

The Liga F Moeve title already has a owner, FC Barcelona, who secured their eleventh league championship in their history, and seventh consecutive. Although with four matchdays remaining and twelve points still to play for, many things are still at stake: the runner-up spot, Champions League places, the TOP-8, and the two teams that will be relegated to Primera RFEF. Following the 1-1 draw against DUX Logroño, Real Madrid CF could not mathematically secure their qualification for Europe's top competition, and furthermore, left the fight for the runner-up spot open. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad, who defeated Madrid CFF 2-0, maintain their eight-point cushion over the fourth-placed team. Furthermore, there are only three points separating the Madridistas and Donostiarras, although the *merengue* team has the head-to-head goal difference won, having triumphed 1-0 in the first leg and 0-3 in the return fixture.

2nd-placed Real Madrid CF with 60 points

Pau Quesada's side arrive at this final stretch of the season in 2nd position in Liga F Moeve with 60 points, eleven ahead of the fourth-placed team. Furthermore, the *blanco* team is third for most goals scored (56), and third for fewest goals conceded (18). The next match for the Madridistas will be an away trip to Sevilla FC (7th-placed), where they will look to secure their European qualification against a *hispalense* club eager to break their poor run of form. The following weekend, the *merengue* team will host Atlético de Madrid (5th-placed) in the Madrid derby, although the *rojiblancas* have the Copa de la Reina final on the horizon. On Matchday 29 of the competition, Real Madrid CF will visit the always challenging Palamós stadium to face FC Badalona Women (9th-placed), while the Madrid side will close out the season by hosting Granada CF (6th-placed), who are in good form.

3rd-placed Real Sociedad with 57 points

A historic season for Real Sociedad, who sit in 3rd position with 57 points, eight ahead of the fourth-placed team. Arturo Ruiz's side arrive at this final stretch with only three defeats to their name, one of which was in 2026. The Donostiarra team's next match will be at the Riazor stadium against Deportivo Abanca (12th-placed), where they could secure their European qualification with a victory and if Costa Adeje Tenerife, their closest pursuer, draws or loses their match. If not, they could achieve it the following weekend at home against Granada CF (6th-placed). After the Copa de la Reina final, and the Champions League final (should the *azulgrana* side qualify), the *txuri-urdin* team will face FC Barcelona (1st-placed), whom they already defeated 1-0 in the first-leg encounter. The league season will conclude at Zubieta against Atlético de Madrid (5th-placed).
