Patri Guijarro and Eva Navarro secure the win for Spain in the first friendly against USA
The Spain players came out with great intensity and took the lead in the early stages of the match. Just three minutes in, Patri Guijarro unleashed a powerful right-footed strike from outside the box, leaving goalkeeper Dickey with no chance.

Emma Hayes' side controlled possession, but without posing much danger around Andriana Nanclares' box. It was Sonia Bermúdez's team that extended their lead in the 14th minute, with a move down the left wing by Salma Paralluelo whose cross to the far post was finished by Eva Navarro into the back of the net.
A minute later, the Americans had three clear chances. The first came through Thompson, whose shot was cleared off the line by Lucía Corrales. And the next two, which featured Wilson, who, after winning her duel against Laia Codina, struck a shot against the crossbar and then fired a cross-shot that grazed the post.
In the second half, the Americans took control of the game and created numerous chances. Wilson managed to beat Athletic Club goalkeeper, Adriana Nanclares, but the goal was disallowed for offside. The Spanish goalkeeper was flawless throughout the match, also saving a penalty from Yohannes, preventing the Americans from reducing the deficit, after Natalia Ramos fouled Wilson. The negative point of the match was the sending off of Athenea del Castillo for pulling Cooper's hair when she had only been on the pitch for two minutes.
Spain thus achieved their second historic victory over the USA, in a match where Sonia Bermúdez handed debuts for La Roja to Clara Pinedo, Natalia Ramos, Andrea Medina and Ainhoa Marín, and is now looking ahead to next Wednesday's match on the 14th at 1:00 AM, live on Teledeporte.
