Noelia Ramos, the 'penalty specialist' who was told she couldn't play football
The Costa Adeje Tenerife goalkeeper had to undergo surgery for a serious heart condition at just five months old. Currently, she shines in LigaF, where she remains undefeated and has accumulated 8 clean sheets. Furthermore, the Tenerife native is the goalkeeper with the most penalties saved (2) in the domestic competition.

April 7th marks the International Day of Health, and Noelia Ramos (San Cristóbal de La Laguna, February 10, 1999) has a true story of overcoming adversity. “At five months old, I fought my first battle: a double aortic arch that made it hard to breathe,” explains the goalkeeper in a social media post. This means the Tenerife-born player was born with two aortas, one wrapped around the other, which compressed her trachea and prevented her from breathing normally. She underwent surgery, and doctors told her she wouldn't be able to play football. All she could do was watch her twin sister, Natalia Ramos (San Cristóbal de La Laguna, February 10, 1999), play. Finally, after a childhood full of medical check-ups, at the age of six, and with medical clearance, she managed to fulfil her dream.

Initially, she played as a forward but soon decided to move to goalkeeping. Successes followed quickly. She was promoted to the First Division with the team then known as UD Granadilla Tenerife, debuting in the elite alongside her sister at just 15 years old. While achieving her goal of playing in the top flight with the club of her life, she began to achieve success with Spain's youth teams. She won the U17 and U19 European Championships with Spain and was awarded the Golden Glove at the U17 World Cup. After a season at Levante UD and three seasons at Sevilla FC, where she graduated in Early Childhood Education, she returned to the Tenerife club in 2022. At 27 years old, she has established herself as one of the best goalkeepers on the national scene.
Her competition with Nay Cáceres between the posts
After a year where the goalkeeper was an undisputed starter, this season, Costa Adeje Tenerife signed Nay Cáceres to compete for the position. Both have shared goalkeeping duties for the Canary Islands team. The Tenerife-born goalkeeper has accumulated 1,170 league minutes across 13 matches, making 20 saves and conceding only 6 goals (0.46 goals per game). Furthermore, the goalkeeper, who has kept a clean sheet on two occasions this season, remains unbeaten in the league competition. The only two matches she has lost this season as the islanders' goalkeeper were in the historic Copa de la Reina semi-finals. This season, she has already saved two penalties, being the only goalkeeper in Liga F Moeve to achieve this.

The San Cristóbal de la Laguna native alternates between the posts with Nay Cáceres (Socopó, November 18, 1999). The Venezuelan has played 12 matches and 1,080 minutes in the domestic competition, recording impressive statistics with 25 saves and 10 goals conceded (0.83 goals per game). The goalkeeper has kept her net secure on 6 occasions. Both goalkeepers have been decisive in the magnificent season for Costa Adeje Tenerife, where, with five matchdays remaining in the championship, the Tenerife team sits in 4th position with 16 goals conceded, making them the second-best defence in the league. This is all thanks to a goalkeeper who was told she wouldn't be able to play football and has become a true warrior.
