Once again, Liga F Moeve takes centre stage in the Ballon d'Or nominations. The Spanish competition will feature six shortlisted players currently playing in Spain. All of them belong to FC Barcelona: goalkeeper Cata Coll, defender Esmee Brugts, midfielder Patri Guijarro, and forwards Caroline Graham Hansen, Claudia Pina and Ewa Pajor. In addition, three other players who featured in the domestic league last season have also been nominated: Alexia Putellas and Mapi León, who wore the blaugrana colours last term, and Caroline Weir, who played for Real Madrid CF, bringing the total to nine footballers and making the Spanish league the championship with the highest number of nominees from the past season.

Liga F Moeve takes centre stage across other awards

The national competition was also heavily featured across the other categories. Nominated for the 2026 Best Young Player award are the blaugrana pair Vicky López and Clara Serrajordi, alongside Real Madrid CF's Felicia Schröder, who arrived this past summer from BK Häcken. Meanwhile, Cata Coll, who is also nominated for the Ballon d'Or, is in the running for the Goalkeeper of the Year award, whilst Pere Romeu, manager of FC Barcelona, is nominated for the Best Coach category. Furthermore, the Catalan side, having secured the second quadruple of titles in their history, are in contention to be named the best club in the world. All winners will be announced at the Ballon d'Or gala, which will celebrate its 70th edition with a ceremony held in London on 26 October.
