“This tournament is a wonderful opportunity that we didn't have back in our day. The girls are spending a lot of time together and meeting people from other places. They are having a great time,” highlights Nagore Calderón after the final whistle of Sevilla FC’s last group stage match in the Torneo Liga Futura Moeve. The Andalusian side won 3-1 against Costa Adeje Tenerife to qualify for the quarter-finals. It is a joy for the girls, who are putting in a great performance throughout the tournament. The club has opened its facilities to host the championship. “We are very happy because so many people have come. There is a great atmosphere in the stands, and the goal of this new championship is for the girls to grow while playing football,” the former Madrid-born player states.

With an extensive footballing career after spells at Atlético de Madrid, Levante UD, and Sevilla FC, as well as having been an international for the Spanish national team, Nagore Calderón brings experience to the girls. “Thanks to everyone who came before us, then we arrived, and then the next generation followed. Thanks to the fight put up by all generations, these girls are growing. We fought in our time so that girls can now dream of being footballers and to help them in the process,” declares the former player, who also expresses her gratitude for the significant support from Sevilla FC in hosting the first edition of the championship. “The club has opened its facilities, and the girls are able to face the best youth academies in Spain,” she explains.

The former captain of the Andalusian side, who played 169 matches for the Sevilla FC first team and left an indelible mark on the Andalusian capital, has become an example for the youngest players, who look up to her as a role model. The Torneo Liga Futura Moeve is further proof of this. “We are on the right path. We all have to keep fighting—the clubs, the media, the institutions, society... all pulling together to keep the ship afloat. We are all growing, the ship is getting bigger and bigger, and the level of the teams is higher every time, and that is because they are coming from a very good foundation at home,” concludes Nagore Calderón, a player who continues to fight so that women’s football never stops growing.
