FC Badalona Women announced the contract renewal of Marc Ballester as head coach of the Catalan side's first team for the 2026/2027 season. The coach took over the reins on an interim basis in mid-November after three seasons as assistant coach and following the departure of Ana Junyent. Since then, he has managed the team in 18 league matches, securing 7 wins, 3 draws, and 8 defeats, consolidating the club in 10th position in Liga F Moeve with 33 points, despite a three-point deduction for failing to present a doctor for away matches. Furthermore, the club reached historic Copa de la Reina semi-finals, where they ultimately fell to FC Barcelona, to whom they put up a fight in both legs.
The Catalan coach's record in the cup competition stands at 2 wins, 1 draw, and 1 defeat. Beyond the statistics, Marc Ballester has built a highly competitive team capable of challenging any opponent in Liga F Moeve. “I am very excited to be able to start building the team from pre-season and instill my playing philosophy from day one. Over these months, we've seen many aspects that we want to enhance with the aim of taking another step forward next season,” stated the protagonist, who also highlighted the importance of continued club growth. “We want to improve and ensure the project remains in Liga F with increasingly ambitious objectives; we have shown ourselves that we can compete against any rival.”
For his part, Ferran Cabello, the club's sporting director, also spoke positively about the coach's continuity. “Marc arrived at a complex moment and managed to bring stability to the team and compete in very demanding scenarios. Marc and his technical staff have the capability to take the team to the next level. We have full confidence in them to make that leap forward.” Pedro Iriondo, CEO of FC Badalona Women, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the coach's connection to the project. “We want to continue consolidating the club at the elite level of Spanish women's football and do so with people who know and feel this club. Marc has been part of our structure for years, and his knowledge of the project and the work we do across all teams is key.”
