A fourth summer signing for FC Badalona Women, which has already announced the arrivals of Izarne Sarasola (Nantes), Txell Font (FC Barcelona B), and Vicky Losada (Bristol City), in addition to the promotion of youth academy player Nerea Carmona to the first team. Lucía Martínez (born 27 November 2001, Burgos) arrives from Deportivo Abanca, where she spent two and a half seasons, achieving promotion to the top flight and establishing herself as an undisputed starter in the Galician side's midfield. Over the last two seasons, the midfielder from Burgos has played a total of 52 matches in Liga F Moeve, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Last season, she played 1,617 minutes across 26 matches, starting twenty of them, and scored a goal in her team's defeat against Real Madrid CF (2-4) at the Riazor stadium.

“I want to highlight the commitment and confidence the club shows in players coming from outside. The team has a desire to grow that matches my own,” says the Burgos native, who spent much of her life in Madrid. She began kicking a ball in her hometown team, Gumiel de Izán. She passed through the Rayo Vallecano academy and then Albacete, where she began to feel like a professional footballer. Later, she played for Alhama CF ElPozo and Granada CF, until Deportivo Abanca came calling, and in A Coruña, she managed to showcase her best football. Last year, she maintained a 77% pass accuracy and recovered 4.7 balls per match, while also winning 48% of her duels. “Off the pitch, I am a very calm person, and on it, I can provide a lot of balance. I am a very consistent person and generous in my efforts,” she explains.

This season, she hopes to continue that growth in Liga F Moeve with FC Badalona Women, who are building a very ambitious project. She actually faced the Catalan side last season and had already been drawn to the idea of playing there. “I really liked watching them play because it is a team that likes to combine and keep the ball. They understand each other very well,” she admits regarding her new teammates. Despite the competition she will face in midfield, Lucía Martínez arrives with humility, but with great desire and ambition to take charge of the middle of the park. “I always try to give my best version. I try to arrive at clubs and look to grow and improve with them,” concludes a player who has already joined her new team, with whom she will look to have a great year to continue establishing herself in the Primera División.
