Following the Ballon d'Or Gala, where FC Barcelona won the award for best club in the world, and where Pere Romeu, Cata Coll and Vicky López took home the trophy for best coach, the Yashin award and the Kopa Trophy, the Catalan side returns to the top European competition to play the third matchday of the league phase of the UEFA Women's Champions League. The Barça team leads with 6 points, being the only team to have won both matches, after defeating Paris FC 5-2 in the first matchday and Roma 0-6 in the second. Laia Aleixandri, who is recovering from an ACL injury, Irene Paredes and Vicky López, will be the three absentees for the Spanish team in this encounter. The Blaugranas are four-time champions of the top European competition: 2020/2021, 2022/2023, 2023/2024 and 2025/2026.
For their part, HB Køge is surprising in this Champions League league phase. The Danish team is in 8th position with 3 points, after falling 1-0 to Arsenal in the first matchday, conceding a goal in the final minute, and after beating Servette 5-1 in the second. The home side qualified for the top European competition after overcoming two qualifying rounds. Furthermore, in their domestic league, they are leaders with 29 points from nine wins, two draws, and only one defeat.
