LigaF presents the 26/27 season with greater visibility, new projects, and international ambition
Club representatives and fifteen Liga F Moeve footballers attended the launch of the new league season. The growth over the four years of Liga F and the major challenges that lie ahead for the 2026/2027 season were the main focus of the event.

Liga F has celebrated the official presentation of the 2026/2027 season, its fifth campaign as a professional competition, at an event that brought together its clubs, players, sponsors, institutions, audiovisual operators, and the media. Journalist Susana Guasch hosted a gala that served to share the progress of the last four years and present the main lines of a new era, following the re-election of Beatriz Álvarez with the support of the clubs.
In a conversation about the present and future of the competition, the president of Liga F thanked the trust received and placed the clubs at the centre of the project. “The clubs are the reason for Liga F's existence, and our obligation is to listen to their needs and work so that they can all develop their projects,” stated Álvarez, who advocated for dialogue and joint work as the basis for continuing to advance and generate new opportunities for the players.
The president highlighted the improvements brought about by professionalisation, both in the organisation of the competition and in the conditions under which the players develop their careers. Among these, she emphasised the progress made in the II Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding maternity, work-life balance, mental health, and training, while also acknowledging the effort of the clubs and players in making that progress a reality both on and off the pitch.

The audiovisual strategy occupied a prominent place during the meeting. After closing last season with an accumulated audience of 7.5 million viewers, an 11.2% increase compared to the previous season, Liga F is reinforcing its commitment to a mixed model that combines DAZN broadcasts with four matches per matchday shown free-to-air on Televisión Española and TV3. This decision aims to facilitate access to the competition, reach new audiences, and increase its value for clubs, players, and sponsors.
“We are not just looking for good viewing figures on one day; we want to build a fanbase that is with us every weekend. In the first season of Liga F, we opened 8 major stadiums, and this year 70 large stadiums, and we are very happy with the viewership figures for our new audiovisual model. Women's football leads a social movement. Let the girls of the future dream of becoming footballers,” explained the president of Liga F. This objective also extends to digital channels, where Liga F exceeds 1.1 million followers across all its profiles, and to stadiums, with the aim of strengthening the connection with fans and making attendance at matches a regular experience.
Liga F in La Quiniela
The inclusion of Liga F matches in La Quiniela was another significant development discussed during the gala, due to its contribution to visibility, recognition of women's football, and revenue generation for the clubs. The president of the Higher Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, participated in a conversation with Susana Guasch focused on the government's and the CSD's support for professionalisation, assistance to clubs, and the significance of this new presence in one of Spanish football's most traditional platforms. “This is worthwhile. Professionalising women's football means recognising rights and advancing equality. The president of Liga F has led an increasingly competitive competition. We must continue to support Liga F and women's football. This is about equality and financial resources to establish the competition and ensure it continues to grow.”
The focus on the future also featured Liga Futura Moeve, whose first edition has extended the competition's project to grassroots football. In a context where Spanish women's football has over 127,000 registered players, Liga F aims to consolidate this tournament as a long-term initiative offering new opportunities for girls and bringing them closer to their role models. “Our responsibility does not end at the elite level. We must also help build opportunities for the players who will come after,” highlighted the president.

The alliance with Moeve had its own segment with the participation of José María Solana, who spoke with Susana Guasch about the company's connection with Liga F and the journey of Liga Futura Moeve, whose first edition was won by Badalona Women. The tournament represents a new dimension of collaboration with the competition's title sponsor, linking their support for professional football with grassroots development.
“For us, this alliance represents much more than visibility. When we started to get to know Liga F Moeve closely, we discovered a competition undergoing transformation that shared our vision for the future. The results of this first season confirm that we are heading in the right direction, but what matters most to us goes beyond the figures: we are creating female role models that did not exist before and expanding what girls believe they can become.” Alongside Moeve, Liga F recognised the support of Volkswagen, EA SPORTS, PUMA, Mahou, Solán de Cabras, and PANINI.
Looking ahead to the new era, Beatriz Álvarez identified resource generation and strengthening club structures as key priorities. In this regard, she referred to the agreement with Gasol16 Ventures as a way to increase the value of Liga F's assets, open new commercial opportunities, and translate that development to the competition as a whole. The goal is for the championship's sporting level to be accompanied by sustained economic and organisational growth.
On the sporting front, the president advocated for the need to offer projects that allow clubs to retain and attract talent, as well as promote new role models. In this context, she celebrated Jenni Hermoso's return to Atlético de Madrid as great news for Liga F and stressed the importance of continuing to move towards greater competitive balance: “It's not about those at the top taking a step back, but about more clubs being able to take steps forward.” An aspiration she linked to sustained investment, training, and project continuity.
São Paulo Football League Agreement
International outreach was represented by Mauro Silva, vice-president of the São Paulo Football Federation, World Cup winner with Brazil, and former Deportivo de A Coruña player. His participation alongside Beatriz Álvarez allowed for discussion of the agreement between both entities to jointly promote women's football, the evolution of Liga F from an external perspective, and the opportunities offered by international alliances. This line of work is complemented by the preparation of the process for commercialising the competition's audiovisual rights worldwide.

“I've been with the Deportivo directors. People in A Coruña live football very intensely. I'm delighted that the club is back in the First Division,” he stated. Furthermore, Mauro Silva also highlighted that “when I left Spain, there was no women's football. It fills me with excitement to return and see what Liga F is. It guarantees that these girls can dream of playing women's football. I congratulate Beatriz and the entire Liga F board. This project inspires me. For us, Liga F is a great reference.” Finally, he added that “what Liga F is doing excites us greatly looking to the future. Hopefully, we can also reach this level.”
The clubs and players were also central to the most sporting and interactive moments of the gala. The new PUMA STELLAR NITRO ball kicked off the event, which included a welcome to Deportivo Alavés and Valencia CF following their respective promotions, as well as the audiovisual presentation of the 16 teams for the season. Magician José Ruiz accompanied various moments of the event with performances and interactions with players and guests.
Institutional closing by Ana Redondo
The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, delivered the institutional closing remarks. “I am happy. It has been a splendid afternoon. We have had fun, and, above all, we have taken a step forward. This inclusion of eight teams every week in La Quiniela will transform football. Because it will bring excitement and be revolutionary in terms of audience. We will see full stadiums because women's football generates a lot of excitement. It will transform the lives of many girls. Many pioneers initiated the idea of building a professional sport. Those women have brought us here. It is important that we continue to look to the future. Today, an equal path begins.”

The presentation concluded with a group photo of the players, club representatives, and authorities. A gathering to share the upcoming challenges of Liga F Moeve and give prominence to those who make the competition's development possible on and off the pitch.
As every season, a broad representation of fifteen players attended the event to support the launch of their competition. Present were: María Echezarreta 'Cheza', from Sevilla FC, with Vicky Losada and Sonia Majarín, who will represent FC Badalona Women. Also attending for Madrid CFF were: Paola Ulloa, Mônica Hickmann, Ana González, and Marina Rivas, while Mireia Masegur represented SD Eibar, Ane Elexpuru Athletic Club, and Pisco Costa Adeje Tenerife. The promoted clubs were represented by Sofía Fuente (Deportivo Alavés) and Andrea Recio (Valencia CF). RCD Espanyol was represented by Laura Martínez, and Logroño United by Isina Corte and Ximena Velazco, who attended the ceremony.
