The Eibar side continues to shape its squad for the upcoming season. After announcing eleven departures and the continuity of coach Iñaki Goikoetxea, the club has started to announce its first signings. Following forward Ángeles del Álamo, Eibar has strengthened their goal with the addition of German goalkeeper Anna Wellmann (Xanten, 19 May 1995), who arrives on loan from Bayern de Múnich. The goalkeeper aims to bolster the Eibar side's goal for the upcoming season. The goalkeeper, who becomes Eibar's second summer signing, has developed her career at various German clubs. She started at SpVgg Kaufbeuren, where she made her debut, and then moved to TSV Schwaben Augsburg, where she spent one season.
She also played for Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FFC Turbine Potsdam, spending two years at each club. She spent three seasons at Bayern de Múnich before returning in 2023 for her second spell. Furthermore, her honours include two Bundesligas, one Copa de Alemania, and one Supercopa de Alemania. All these titles were won with the Bavarian side, to which she has returned this summer for the third time in her career to sign a new three-year contract and be loaned to Eibar. Last season, the goalkeeper had her first experience outside Germany, playing for Sporting Clube de Portugal, where her team finished in 2nd position with 35 points, thirteen points behind the leaders.
In Portugal, the goalkeeper continued to gain minutes and experience at the highest level, playing a total of 900 minutes across 10 league matches, in which she conceded 8 goals (0.8 goals conceded per match) and made 30 saves (3 interventions per match). Furthermore, the German goalkeeper kept 4 clean sheets, demonstrating solidity, leadership, and security between the posts. These are precisely the qualities she will aim to demonstrate during her loan spell at Eibar, who needed a goalkeeper to compete for the starting spot with Laura Martí after the departure of Eunate Astralaga, who has returned to Athletic Club after her loan ended. International talent for LigaF and experience for the Eibar goal, as they look to remain in the First Division for another season.
