FC Badalona Women has announced their first signing for the 2026/2027 season of Liga F Moeve: Vicky Losada. The 35-year-old midfielder, one of women's football's most iconic figures, returns to the Spanish league. After starting at Can Parellada and playing for Sabadell, the Catalan began her professional career at FC Barcelona. After a year at RCD Espanyol, the midfielder returned to the Blaugrana side. In 2014, she moved on loan to Western New Tork Flash, where she became the fourth Spanish player to play in the professional league in the United States. A year later, she joined Arsenal Ladies, where she won the FA CUP and the League Cup. After her adventure in England, the Catalan midfielder returned home. With the Blaugrana side, she made history, lifting their first ever UEFA Women's Champions League in Gothenburg.
She also won six league titles and seven Copa de la Reina trophies with FC Barcelona, becoming captain. Her time at the Blaugrana side definitively ended in 2021, and the midfielder played for Manchester City, with whom she won another League Cup, Roma, Brighton & Hove Albion and Bristol City, the club from which she arrives on loan. “I am very grateful for my time in England and, in particular, for the opportunity to play with Bristol City last season. But I had wanted to return home for a long time, and the Badalona Women project, with the support of Mercury 13, has captivated me. We are fortunate; we are at an ideal moment of growth to create a competitive team with personality, where the fans feel represented,” the midfielder stated in her first words as the Catalan team's new player.
Furthermore, the midfielder was a senior international for the Spanish National Team. With over 60 caps, Vicky Losada has played in two World Cups and two European Championships. Notably, the Catalan became the first Spanish female footballer to score a goal in a World Cup, in the 1-1 draw against Costa Rica on 9 June 2015. An experience she will bring to FC Badalona Women. “The signing of Vicky Losada is a milestone that demonstrates the direction and ambition of this project. We are bringing in an extraordinary player and an undisputed role model for new generations. We are building a team to establish ourselves in the elite in a city like Badalona, which we want to feel proud of this project,” stated Pedro Iriondo, the club's CEO. The Spanish league regains the midfielder's quality for the new season.
