The Spanish national team defeated Ukraine in the second match of this international break. The first chance of the game fell to La Roja. An active Vicky López went for goal from inside the area, but the Ukrainian defence cleared it safely. Sonia Bermúdez's side controlled possession, and ten minutes into the game, Vicky López again combined with Alexia to unleash a shot from the edge of the box that the visiting goalkeeper saved with little trouble. Salma also tried her luck with a strike from outside the area with the same outcome as her teammate. Indeed, a pass from the Zaragoza-born player found Athenea, but the Real Madrid forward was not fortunate. The match was one-sided, and Clara Serrajordi also failed to find the net with a long-range effort. Daria Keliushyk prevented Vicky López from scoring with a truly outstanding save.
The goal wouldn't come, not even from a set piece, where La Roja tried time and again. Lucía Corrales also failed to score with a shot from inside the box. The stalemate seemed set to hold until halftime, but with three minutes left in the first half, Athenea won a free-kick that Salma took. The forward's delivery was headed home by Edna Imade to score her second goal for Spain and break the deadlock. Just a few minutes later, Vicky López spotted the run of Lucía Corrales from deep, who unleashed a thunderous strike that hit the crossbar before finding the back of the net. A stunning goal. Her first for the senior team. At halftime, Sonia Bermúdez brought on Eva Navarro and Fiamma Benítez to maintain attacking intensity. The second half followed the same script as the first, with Vicky López being the most prominent in attack.
In the 53rd minute, Lyubov Shmayko handled the ball as she went to clear an action from Athenea. Vicky López was tasked with taking the penalty. The Vallecana player, with immense composure, scored to make it 0-3. The goal finally brought some calm to La Roja, and Sonia Bermúdez opted to continue rotating the squad, bringing on Inma Gabarro and Martina Fernández, who made her senior debut. The fourth goal was almost scored by Edna Imade with a shot that the Ukrainian goalkeeper saved on the line. Meanwhile, Misa saved a shot from the edge of the area, but the Canary Islander goalkeeper couldn't stop a strike from Olha Ovdiychuk from inside the box. Despite the goal, Ornella Vignola also debuted for La Roja. Indeed, the forward tried her luck with a cross-shot that went over the bar. The woodwork also denied Clara Serrajordi a goal. With the final whistle, Spain's victory was confirmed, maintaining their unbeaten run.
