RCD Espanyol has secured its place in Liga F Moeve for the second consecutive season. One of the great heroines of the 'perico' side's salvation has been Romane Salvador (Lyon, 9 May 1998), who joined the 'perico' team in September 2023, with the league already underway, and with the firm intention of helping the Catalan side gain promotion to Primera División. Despite being the last to arrive, the goalkeeper was key to reaching the top flight, where thanks to her saves, reflexes, and security between the posts, she has been crucial in achieving two consecutive stays in the elite. This last one as the goalkeeper who has made the most interventions this season in Liga F Moeve, with 101 saves (3.88 interventions per match). Furthermore, the goalkeeper has kept 8 clean sheets and has conceded 39 goals in 2,340 minutes across 26 matches.
She also saved a penalty in her team's defeat against Athletic Club (2-1) in Lezama. Beyond pure footballing matters, the French goalkeeper has also been the perfect example for Meritxell Muñoz, who has accompanied her between the posts. The young goalkeeper has conceded 4 goals in 5 matches and has kept 1 clean sheet. Both goalkeepers, along with Paula Coba, have experienced very healthy competition in the 'perico' goal, making RCD Espanyol the seventh team with the fewest goals conceded this season, with 44 goals received. Indeed, the goalkeeping department for next year in the Catalan side will be the same as this year. Meritxell Muñoz, who arrived last season, signed for two seasons, while Romane Salvador and Paula Coba have renewed their respective contracts until 2027, in a commitment by the club to continuity between the posts.
“Very happy to be able to continue one more year with Espanyol,” affirmed the French goalkeeper after announcing her renewal with the 'perico' side. The goalkeeper couldn't hide her excitement about continuing for another year defending the 'blanquiazul' goal. “I'm still very happy at the club, the team's level is improving every year, and I'm still enjoying it a lot,” she highlighted. The goalkeeper has had a magnificent season, being key for the Catalan side to secure their place after defeating Levante UD 1-0 on Matchday 24 of Liga F Moeve. “Unlike last year, we've been lucky enough to achieve our objective very early, and that has helped us enjoy playing without fear of what might happen,” she pointed out. Finally, the goalkeeper couldn't hide her love for the 'perico' team. “It's the club of my life. I've never felt so at home as I do here,” concluded the French shot-stopper.
