Meanwhile, the *txuri-urdin* side, currently 31st in the UEFA rankings, will take on Chelsea (3rd), one of the most talent-packed squads in Europe, who bowed out against Arsenal in the quarter-finals of elite European competition last term. The two-legged ties will take place on 26 August for the first leg, with the return fixtures scheduled for 2 September.
Real Madrid CF finished last campaign in second place in Liga F Moeve with 72 points, whilst Real Sociedad were the standout revelation of the season, sealing a third-place finish with 66 points. This marks the sixth consecutive season that *los merengues* will compete in Europe's premier club competition, having successfully negotiated the qualifying rounds to reach the group stage in every single attempt so far. For their part, the Basque outfit are gearing up for only the second Champions League campaign in their history. In the qualifying rounds of the 2022/23 season under Natalia Arroyo, they ultimately fell short against Bayern Munich. Both teams will be looking to join FC Barcelona, who are already waiting in the group stage after clinching the domestic title with 87 points.
