Real Madrid continue their wait for a win in the Champions League

Real Madrid drew 2-2 against Bayern de Múnich on the third matchday of the Champions League phase. Goals from Athenea del Castillo and Lineth Beerensteyn put Real Madrid CF ahead, but Edna Imade and Momoko Tanikawa equalised, meaning the Madridistas are still without a win.

Before the start of the match, players from both teams observed an emotional minute's silence in memory of the tragic accident in Urda (Toledo). Real Madrid came out determined to secure the win. After seven minutes, Linda Caicedo got to the byline and delivered a cut-back pass for Athenea del Castillo to open the scoring. Meanwhile, Klara Bühl created a chance for the German team, with a cross that Edna Imade was close to converting. Dallmann also came within inches of scoring, but Lakrar saved the goal on the line. The visitors quickly added their second. A wide free-kick taken by Caruso, flicked on by Silvia Cristóbal, and a touch from María Méndez allowed Beerensteyn to extend the lead. On the half-hour mark, Edna Imade pulled one back.

The last chance of the first half fell to Harder, but without success. Real Madrid had lost control of the match, and right after the start of the second forty-five minutes, Momoko Tanikawa, following a save by Frohms from Dallmann, levelled the score. Pau Quesada reacted by bringing on Levels and Andreia Jacinto. The Madridistas had a chance through a Beerensteyn shot, but she couldn't find the goal. Both teams pushed for the win. Frohms made another great save from a powerful shot by Edna Imade, while Beerensteyn tried again at the other end. The forward had another opportunity that didn't trouble Mahmutovic. The last two chances went to the home side. Eriksson came close to scoring, and Proost hit the woodwork.
