RCD Espanyol has now made eight signings in this transfer window. The arrival of Raquel García (Deportivo Abanca) joins Clara Rodríguez (Granada CF), Claudia Iglesias 'Bicho' (Costa Adeje Tenerife), Anita Marcos (Madrid CFF), Ana Velázquez (Alhama CF ElPozo), Iara Lacosta (SD Eibar), Paula Gutiérrez (Deportivo Abanca) and Carla Morera (Racing Power FC). The centre-back developed in the youth ranks of CD Puerta Bonita in Madrid and Atlético de Madrid. Before moving to Málaga CF, she made her debut in the top flight at just 21 years old. She later moved to DUX Logroño and subsequently to Deportivo Abanca. In Galicia, she spent five seasons, achieving a commendable promotion to Liga F Moeve at Riazor and securing two seasons of top-flight survival. Above all, she became one of the captains of the Deportivo side.

Last season, the defender played 2,017 league minutes across 25 matches, in which she scored 1 goal—in her team's victory against Madrid CFF (1-6)—and provided 2 assists. “I am very happy to be here,” were the first words from the new RCD Espanyol defender, who has signed for RCD Espanyol for the next two seasons. At 29 years old, the Madrid native has already accumulated 104 appearances in the elite division and will bring aerial prowess, competitiveness, and experience to the heart of the defence. The centre-back stands out for her anticipation and her clinical tackling, thanks to her tactical intelligence in reading opposing strikers. “It was a very easy decision to make from the very first moment the doors at RCD Espanyol opened for me,” stated the defender, who is “very eager to get started and to meet all my teammates and the coaching staff.”

She also revealed what she expects from the upcoming campaign in Liga F Moeve. “I think it can be a very beautiful season for the team. We all have a tremendous desire for it to start now, to set our objectives and achieve them little by little so we can fight for great things together,” the defender highlighted. Furthermore, in her first words as an RCD Espanyol player, the Madrid native also confessed her wishes for the new season. “To finish in a position we all dream of, to make the fans enjoy themselves, and to leave the club in the position it deserves.” Additionally, Raquel García recognizes herself as a footballer who loves to win and as a leader on the pitch. “I am quite an ambitious player, very hardworking, and someone who always wants a little more. I consider myself a defender with a lot of grit and strength at the back,” concluded the new RCD Espanyol signing.
