Both teams took to the pitch with the intention of securing all three points. Ona Baradad ventured a low cross into the box, but no opposing player managed to connect with it. From a set-piece, RCD Espanyol came close to scoring, but a solid Paola Ulloa pulled off a sensational save to avert the danger. Ariadna Doménech also tried her luck with a long-range shot that went over the bar. Sara Monforte's side continued to press with another cross-shot that the Madrid team's goalkeeper saved, and Ona Baradad tried her luck with a shot that went just wide of the post. A goal was imminent, and on the half-hour mark, Lucía Vallejo pounced on a rebound from the visiting goalkeeper to send the ball into the back of the net, scoring the opening goal of the match. Madrid CFF looked to recover, but it was the home side who scored the second.

A good cross from Ariadna Doménech was headed in from inside the box by Paula Gutiérrez to double the lead on the scoreboard. A cold shower for the Madrid side, who could have pulled a goal back through Sakina Ouzraoui, but her shot went completely wide. Sofía Hernández tried her luck with a long-range shot, but it was Sakina Ouzraoui, with a powerful shot that Romane Salvador couldn't hold, who scored for the Madrid team. Just before half-time, Paula Gutiérrez, who was the MVP of the match, conjured a direct free-kick to score her brace and extend the lead on the scoreboard. After the restart, Emilie Nautnes and María Aymerich came on for the visiting team in search of a reaction. Indeed, Emilie Nautnes tried her luck with a powerful shot from inside the box that the 'Perica' defence, very solid at the back, blocked.

Paula León also tried her luck, but without success in front of the opposition goal. The decisive goal came with fifteen minutes left to play. A ball cleared by the 'Perica' defence fell to Natalia Escot, who sent a long ball through for Browne's run. The forward outpaced her defender and beat Paola Ulloa with a powerful shot from inside the box. Barely two minutes later, RCD Espanyol made it 5-1 on the scoreboard. Natalia Escot scored her first goal for the 'Blanquiazul' team with a long-range shot that surprised the Madrid team's goalkeeper, who watched as the ball flew directly into the back of the net. After the referee's final whistle, Sara Monforte's side confirmed their first victory of the season, putting them on 4 points in the league standings, while Madrid CFF suffered their first defeat of the campaign.
