Patri Guijarro and Eva Navarro fire Spain to victory in the first friendly against USA
The Spanish started with great intensity and took the lead in the early stages of the match. Three minutes into the game, Patri Guijarro unleashed a powerful right-footed shot from outside the box, which goalkeeper Dickey could do nothing about.

Emma Hayes's team controlled possession, but posed little threat near Andriana Nanclares's goal. It was Sonia Bermúdez's team that extended their lead in the 14th minute, on a play down the left flank by Salma Paralluelo, whose cross to the far post was finished by Eva Navarro into the back of the net.
A minute later, the North Americans had three clear chances. The first came from Thompson, whose shot was cleared off the line by Lucía Corrales. The next two featured Wilson, who, after winning her duel against Laia Codina, hit a shot against the crossbar and then fired a cross-shot that grazed the post.
In the second half, the Americans took control of the game and created numerous chances. Wilson managed to beat Athletic Club goalkeeper, Adriana Nanclares, but the goal was disallowed for offside. The Spanish goalkeeper was impeccable throughout the match, also saving a penalty from Yohannes, preventing the North Americans from reducing the deficit, after Natalia Ramos fouled Wilson.
The negative point of the match was the sending off of Athenea del Castillo for pulling Cooper's hair when she had only been on the pitch for two minutes.
Spain thus achieved their second historic victory over the USA, in a match where Sonia Bermúdez gave debuts for La Roja to Clara Pinedo, Natalia Ramos, Andrea Medina, Ainhoa and Ornella, and is already thinking about next Wednesday's match on the 14th at 1:00 AM, live on Teledeporte.
