Costa Adeje Tenerife have had a magnificent season. The Canary Islands outfit are currently 5th in Liga F Moeve with 50 points, and also reached a historic Copa de la Reina semi-final. One of the main architects of the Tenerife team's great year is Noelia Ramos (San Cristóbal de La Laguna, 10 February 1999). The goalkeeper has a history of overcoming adversity. She was born with two aortas, one wrapped around the other, which compressed her trachea and prevented her from breathing normally. Doctors told her she wouldn't be able to play football. “They were complicated years. I spent the first two years practically in hospital. I always say I was born a warrior and I will die a warrior,” states the goalkeeper in a video, where content creator Atiga Suleiman presents her with the 'Team Of The Season' award from EA SPORTS.
“I'm happy and proud because I put in a lot of work behind the scenes to be able to have an award like this at some point. For me, it's an honour, above all, that Liga F has recognised me in the Team of the Season,” says the goalkeeper, who went from not being able to play football to being promoted to the top flight with the club of her life. This recognition comes not only for the goalkeeper's magnificent season but also for her journey of overcoming challenges, which at 27 years old has borne fruit. After spells at Levante UD and Sevilla FC, she returned home in 2022 to play alongside her sister Natalia Ramos at Costa Adeje Tenerife. “I needed to be close to my family. I enjoy every minute, and the return was special. After being away for six years, I value everything much more.”On the island, she has become one of the best goalkeepers in the top division, conceding just 9 goals in 15 matches.
An average of 0.6 goals conceded per game, making her one of the most reliable goalkeepers on the national scene. Furthermore, the goalkeeper, who is sharing goalkeeping duties with her teammate Nay Cáceres, has prevented 1.49 goals per match this year. Of all the great moments she has experienced this year, Noelia Ramos cherishes “the penalty save against Real Madrid at the Heliodoro because it was a moment of pure elation.” Indeed, the Canary Islands keeper can boast of being the goalkeeper with the most penalty saves this season, with two from the spot. Her statistics are rounded off with 28 saves (1.86 saves per game), and 9 clean sheets. “For me, there were never any impossibilities. From a very young age, I wanted to fight for my dreams, and I'm happy because I've achieved what was once unthinkable,” she concludes.
