Before the match kicked off, players from both clubs observed a minute's silence for the tragic accident in Urda (Toledo) and for Alberto Molina, the footballer with the most appearances in CD Tenerife's history. Both teams tried their luck in the opening stages of the game, though without finding the path to goal. Violeta Quiles attempted an effort, but without success. Zamanian also tried her luck with a free-kick. The response came from Ane Elexpuru, with a right-footed shot that went over the crossbar. Daniela Agote also had a go, though without posing any danger. In the opposite area, Natalia Padilla went for goal with an attempted shot that missed the target. The clearest chance came around the twenty-minute mark, with a powerful free-kick from Clara Pinedo.
From set-pieces, the Bilbao side continued to press, but Nay Cáceres was very alert. Amaia Martínez tried to surprise with a thunderous strike that went over the crossbar. Meanwhile, Annahita Zamanian dictated play in the midfield for the Canary Islands side, but without managing to find the opposition goal. Before half-time, Nay Cáceres made a good save from a free-kick. The last chance of the first half fell to Elene Gurtubay, but the midfielder missed the target, and her shot went high. The defences of both teams were the main protagonists of a first half, which ended 0-0 at the Heliodoro. The equality remained at the start of the second half, but it didn't take long to change.

A shot from Natalia Padilla was a warning to the Basque team. The forward didn't miss on the second attempt, heading home a powerful cross to the penalty spot from Aleksandra Zaremba, who was the MVP of the clash. A few minutes later, a header from Carlota Suárez came close to being the second goal of the game, but the ball went too high. Noelia Salazar also tried her luck from distance, but without success. In the opposing area, the crossbar denied Ane Campos a goal, as she tried to surprise with a shot that deflected off a defender. The forward tried again with a header that went wide. Sara Ortega and Ane Azkona were the first substitutions for the Bilbao club. Maitane Vilariño and Jone Amezaga also entered the field shortly after.
A good individual play by Daniela Agote came close to finding the opposition goal, but the Tenerife defence held firm. Maitane Vilariño also created danger, and Ane Azkona was close to connecting with a great cross into the heart of the area. Víctor Martín's side were searching for the coveted goal, but the Tenerife defence remained imperious at the back to maintain their lead. Just when it seemed Athletic Club were closer to an equaliser, the second goal arrived. A shot from Marina Martí was parried by Adriana Nanclares, but the ball fell to Paulina Gramaglia, who doubled the lead. Ane Azkona had the last chance, but her effort missed the target and went completely wide in Tenerife's victory.
