Matchday 3 reveals the teams qualified for the quarter-finals

The third matchday of the group stage of the Torneo Liga Futura Moeve determined the teams qualified for the quarter-finals. FC Barcelona in Group B are the only ones to have achieved it with a perfect record of wins, while Sevilla FC and Real Sociedad have qualified as the two best third-placed teams.

Group A

Saturday 13 June 09:30h Madrid CFF 1 - Atlético de Madrid 2

The Madrid derby, with both teams fighting for a place in the quarter-finals, kicked off with a goal from Lara Blázquez, who capitalised on a rebound from the Madrid CFF goalkeeper to score the first goal of the match. Samuel López's side responded with a direct free-kick that went high. Noa Jiménez pressed again with a shot that Leire Mesegar saved without any problems. The Rojiblanco side could also have scored a second with a shot from Raquel Arranz that went wide. Madrid CFF's persistence paid off with a shot from Noa Jiménez that the goalkeeper couldn't hold, and the score was level again. A minute later, María Olivares didn't let go of the ball after a throw-in, and it went into the net.



Madrid CFF gained ground, and Clara Carazo had the first chance of the second half. María Martín also forced the Rojiblanco goalkeeper to react with a great save. The Rojiblanco side came close to a third with a shot from Zaida Escudero that went wide. Samuel López's team continued to press the opposing goal, but without success. Nevertheless, they pushed for the much-needed goal with a shot from Martina Sepúlveda that went wide, but the ball didn't find the opponent's net. The final whistle confirmed the Rojiblanco team's qualification for the quarter-finals, while Samuel López's side will have to wait for results to know if they are in the next round.


Both teams took to the field with the aim of securing all three points and closing out Group A. Deportivo Abanca started better, pressing high, but it was Júlia Irurtia who eventually broke the deadlock with a magnificent strike, making it impossible for the Galician team's goalkeeper to reach. Despite conceding, the Deportivo side didn't take long to equalise through Mencía Quejias, who capitalised on a high press to send the ball into the back of the net and restore parity. The Catalan team tried to react, but the Galician team's defence held firm to go into half-time with the score at 1-1 and everything to play for in the second half.



The second half began with two shots, one for each team. Both sides were going for the win. The Catalan team continued to push for maximum points in the group stage, but it was Deportivo Abanca who eventually found their reward with a pass back for Naia López to send the ball into the back of the net and take the lead. The Deportivo club gained momentum through Naia López, although Amalia Garewal again equalised at 2-2 with a great finish from inside the box. The match became a real end-to-end affair with both teams pushing for a goal. Despite the attempts from both sides, the match ended in a share of the points.

Group C 

Saturday 13 June 10:30h Real Sociedad 2 - Athletic Club 2

The Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios hosted the Basque derby between Real Sociedad and Athletic Club, a decisive clash for qualification to the quarter-finals. The first few minutes of the game were extremely even until Aunitz Lozano opened the scoring with a header from inside the box to beat the Donostiarra defence. Nora Peregrina responded, but Olatz Vicente made a great save to deny the striker. The Bilbao side found their second with a powerful strike from Malen Eskibel on the turn to beat the txuri-urdin goalkeeper and make it two. The third also came from the striker, but Libe Bengoechea prevented the goal with a save.



As soon as the second half started, Maddi Rojas came close to reducing the deficit, but the Basque team's goalkeeper made a providential save. The txuri-urdin club came close to scoring with a shot from Nora Peregrina that went wide. Athletic Club continued to seek to extend their lead through Julia Escudero, who was looking to continue creating dangerous chances for her team. A great play by Carmen Gallo was finished off by Nora Peregrina to reduce the deficit. Real Sociedad scored one of the goals of the tournament through Inge González from outside the box. The Donostiarras even had a chance to win, but the Bilbao goalkeeper saved the goal.

Saturday 13 June 11:00h DUX Logroño 0 - RCD Espanyol 2

Group C concluded with the duel between the Riojan side and the Pericos. DUX Logroño tried through Elena Marín, but without success in front of the rival goal. However, the first goal of the match went to RCD Espanyol. A great play by the Catalan team was finished off by Abril Montenegro to surprise Victoria García and open the scoring. Joan Caubert's side continued to push towards the opponent's goal in search of more goals, which soon arrived. Ivet Codina joined the Perico party to score the second goal of the match. The Riojan club pushed forward looking to create danger, but the Catalan team's defence remained solid at the back to go into half-time with a victory and a clean sheet.



After the restart, Alba Molina made a great save from a good shot by the Perico side, sending the ball out for a corner with a good low stop. The Catalan club's goalkeeper also made a providential save from a great shot by Lena Cañís from inside the box. RCD Espanyol didn't ease up, while the Riojan side pushed for a goal. Again, a secure Alba Molina saved a shot from midfield by Cloe Casas. The crossbar saved the vinotinto side once more, and finally, Joan Caubert's team secured a 0-2 victory to reach the quarter-finals of the Torneo Liga Futura Moeve.

Group B

Saturday 13 June 11:30h FC Barcelona 2 - Levante UD 1

Group B kicked off with a thrilling match between the two teams with a perfect winning record. Valentina García created danger from the early stages of the game, and earned a free-kick that Laia Abelairas sent over the bar. For their part, Levante UD tried to surprise with a shot that went high. As the minutes passed, the Granota side grew into the match. Claudia Esteve tried a powerful shot, and the blaugrana team's goalkeeper had to intervene to save a good shot from the Levantine team. Just before half-time, Valentina García scored a stunning goal with a direct free-kick that went straight into the back of the net to make it 1-0.



As soon as the second half began, FC Barcelona extended their lead with a great goal from Aina Fillat, beating Daniela Corachán's attempted save. Furthermore, María Alarcón came close to scoring with a shot that went over the bar. Levante UD also attacked, but without managing to break through a solid culé defence. Eventually, the Levantine team's persistence paid off with a goal from Daniela Libros to reduce the deficit late in the game, but the Granota side couldn't find an equaliser, and the culé team advanced to the quarter-finals as group winners, with Levante UD as runners-up.


Sevilla FC took to the pitch with a furious pace, looking to win and secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Torneo Liga Futura Moeve. Two minutes into the game, Laura Ortiz broke the deadlock to surprise the Tenerife team's goalkeeper and score the first goal. The Sevillian side continued their charge, seeking more goals against the opposition, and soon extended their lead with a goal from Noa Reyes, who latched onto a loose ball inside the box to score the second goal. The last chance of the first half fell to Costa Adeje Tenerife, who tried their luck but couldn't reduce the deficit, and the match went into half-time with a lead for the Sevillistas.



In the second half, the Sevillian side continued to push for more goals to extend their lead. Martina Azpilicueta threatened, but it was Lidia Ortiz who beat the Tenerife goalkeeper in a one-on-one to extend the lead and make it 3-0. Despite the scoreline, Costa Adeje Tenerife kept trying to create danger in the opposition's half. Nora Muñoz tried in the final third, but was thwarted by the solid defence of the Canary Islands team, who had their own chance at the other end through Lola Aguilar. The Canary Islands side scored their consolation goal through Lola Requelo, who unleashed a thunderous strike from outside the box to round off the match.
