Martina, Azpilicueta's daughter, who is following in her father's footsteps: “He has given me a lot of advice”
The Liga Futura Moeve Tournament has already provided one of its first great stories. Martina, the daughter of former professional player César Azpilicueta, plays for Sevilla FC. Her father attended the match at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios to watch her play, and the pair shared an embrace and a private moment once the final whistle blew.

“The debut was very good, I was very nervous, but I'm very happy to be here. This was a dream I had. To be on TV and play in a tournament organised by LigaF. It's incredible,” Martina Azpilicueta told LigaF after Sevilla FC's first match in the Torneo Liga Futura Moeve. Despite the 1-0 defeat against Levante UD, the result is secondary for a player who is living a dream and following in the footsteps of her father, César Azpilicueta. The Navarrese player joined the Andalusian club last summer from Atlético de Madrid to add experience to the defence. The former Chelsea captain was a Champions League winner with the English side and an international for the Spanish national team.
He arrived in the Andalusian city with a rough diamond in tow, his daughter, who joined the U11 team to continue her football education. Unlike her father, Martina is a forward, and this year she has already scored several goals for the Andalusian side, standing out in her category thanks to her height and keen eye for goal. Indeed, César Azpilicueta, who retired less than a month ago, was a defender, tasked with stopping opposing attackers. “Before coming to the tournament, my father told me everything, he gave me so many tips, and I had to take it all in. I don't know if I could fit it all in my head,” the striker replied with a laugh, with her father among the fans in the stands at the Sports City.
The Sevilla FC player has taken one of the key pieces of advice from her father. “Move a lot. Be very active in attack and find spaces,” Martina answered. Furthermore, the forward is prepared to face rival defences. “Hold your ground if the defence comes towards you, especially on corners. Go towards them and don't be afraid to strike any ball,” she explained when discussing finding goal-scoring opportunities for her team, Sevilla FC, with whom she hopes to go far in the tournament, but above all, to enjoy herself. “I'm going to give my best,” she concluded. After the match, they embraced and shared confidences about the game. A father's love that transcends the boundaries of the pitch.
