After being crowned Liga F Moeve champions with their 1-4 victory against RCD Espanyol on the previous matchday, FC Barcelona presented the league title to their fans this Wednesday, May 6th, in the Matchday 27 fixture of Liga F against Levante UD at the Johan Cruyff stadium (18:45h). The Catalan side, who have only lost one domestic match this season and have already won the Spanish Super Cup, are also through to the Copa de la Reina final and the UEFA Women's Champions League final. After the match, and following their 5-0 win against Levante UD, which confirmed their relegation, the blaugranas' celebrations began, in an emotional ceremony where the fans were the protagonists. The players approached to take photographs and complete a lap of honour with the trophy.
“Congratulations to FC Barcelona. My congratulations to the club, the coaching staff, the players, and the fans because they are achieving something extraordinary that is very difficult. For Liga F, it is a source of pride to have a club with the calibre of Barça,” confessed Beatriz Álvarez, president of Liga F Moeve at the end of the match regarding the Catalan side's title. This league trophy marks the eleventh in the blaugranas' history, and the seventh consecutive one. “It is a sad day for Levante UD. They are a club that has been a benchmark for women's football. I wish them all the best and much encouragement,” added the head of the women's competition. Alongside her was Rafael Louzán, president of the RFEF, who echoed the same sentiment. “Beatriz is vice-president of the RFEF, and both institutions are working to ensure women's football continues to grow,” and he concluded with “congratulations to FC Barcelona and congratulations to Levante UD for their years in the top flight.”
Beatriz Álvarez and Rafael Louzán Presented the Trophy
The presidential box at the Johan Cruyff stadium hosted Beatriz Álvarez, president of Liga F Moeve, and Rafael Louzán, president of the RFEF, who travelled to Barcelona to witness the match. Furthermore, both leaders, accompanied by Rafa Yuste, acting president of FC Barcelona until July 1st, were responsible for presenting the championship title to the Catalan team. The blaugranas received the title after a magnificent campaign, in which they have only lost one league fixture, also being the highest-scoring team and the one that has conceded the fewest goals in the championship. This national dominance is also reflected internationally, where the blaugranas will represent the Spanish competition in the UEFA Women's Champions League final, where they will aim to secure their fourth continental title.
