Alcalá opens the Copa de la Reina semi-finals

The Rojiblanco and Tenerife outfits will face each other this Wednesday, March 11th, at 19:00h at the Alcalá de Henares Sports Centre. The clash, corresponding to the first leg, will pit the sixth and fourth-placed teams in Liga F Moeve against each other. The match will be broadcast live on Teledeporte and RTVE Play.

The Alcalá de Henares Sports Centre will kick off the Copa de la Reina semi-finals. Atlético de Madrid arrive at the fixture in 6th position in Liga F Moeve with 32 points, fifteen adrift of the Champions League qualification spots. The Madrid side have gone four consecutive matches without a win across all competitions. Their path in this Copa de la Reina saw them beat Alhama CF ElPozo 1-1 (4-5 on penalties) in the Round of 16, and triumph 4-1 against Athletic Club in the quarter-finals. Silvia Lloris, who is suffering from an ACL injury, and Gio Queiroz will be unavailable for this cup tie. The match will be a special occasion for José Herrera. The Tenerife-born coach, who joined the Colchonero club in January, previously served as an assistant coach and then spent three seasons as head coach of the islanders' first team.

Meanwhile, Costa Adeje Tenerife are enjoying a season to remember. Yerai Martín's team currently occupy 4th position in Liga F Moeve with 36 points, eleven behind the Champions League places, and have suffered only three league defeats. The Canary Islands club secured victories against Sevilla FC (1-2) in the Copa de la Reina Round of 16, and against Madrid CFF (0-1) in the quarter-finals. María Estella, Pisco, Aithiara Carballo, and Carlota Suárez will be unavailable for the semi-final clash.The Blanquiazules are highly motivated for this knockout competition, especially as the final will be held in Gran Canaria. The two teams have already faced each other this season, with the islanders securing a 2-1 victory at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López. Indeed, the historic stadium will host the second leg on Tuesday, 17 March at 19:00h (peninsular time).
