Breaking records for youth. This is how Aiara Agirrezabala's (Berastegi, 2 October 2008) progression is unfolding. The Gipuzkoan full-back first kicked a ball in her hometown. She played for Tolosa CF in the *infantil* and *cadete* categories before making the move to Real Sociedad's academy at just 14 years old. At Zubieta, she stood out in the youth ranks, and her considerable talent caught the eye of Sánchez Vera, who handed her a debut in Liga F Moeve at only 16 years old, in the 0-2 defeat against Valencia CF on 27 April 2025. The *txuri-urdin* club's academy product was living her dream of debuting with the first team. The defender started two more matches, accumulating 197 minutes across three games in her debut year in the elite.

Last summer, Real Sociedad committed to securing their academy talent by renewing her contract until 2029 and giving her a first-team squad number, 24. Despite her youth, the defender has exceeded expectations, establishing herself at left-back for the San Sebastián side and becoming a regular in the Basque club's defensive line. Her ability to make decisive tackles, make sound defensive decisions, and pose a constant threat in attack has positioned her as a player with a bright future, but increasingly making her mark in Liga F Moeve right now. This season, she has already amassed 1,375 minutes in the domestic competition, making her the seventh-most-played footballer in her team. She has only missed one match this term, contributing 5 goals and providing 2 assists.

Her standout performance this season came on the opening matchday of the league. Real Sociedad drew 2-2 at Fernando Torres. The academy graduate scored a brace, becoming, at just 16 years and 333 days old, the youngest player to score two goals in a single Liga F Moeve match. The first was a magnificent left-footed strike from inside the box, while the second goal was a perfect volley from the edge of the area. An investment by the Basque team that is already beginning to pay dividends, not only in the domestic competition, but she has also been one of the notable inclusions in Sonia Bermúdez's squad for this international break, where *La Roja* will face Iceland on Tuesday, 3 February at 19:00h and Ukraine on Saturday, 7 March at 18:00h.

Achievements with Spain's Youth Categories

Indeed, the full-back, who received the affection of her teammates upon hearing the national team coach's squad list, could make her debut for Spain in the match against the Nordic side. The Gipuzkoan player has been named in the twenty-three-player squad, wearing the number 20. Her call-up to the senior squad follows her brilliant performances in *La Roja*'s youth categories. In 2024, Aiara Agirrezabala became the U17 World Cup runner-up, and in the same year, she also won the U19 European Championship. Notably, in that championship, the full-back scored a goal in the group stage to secure victory for *La Roja* against Portugal. At 17 years old, she is already part of a new golden generation. "I dream of winning another title," she expressed on the RFEF's social media channels.
