Pau Gasol leads a historic investment to drive the growth and international profile of LigaF and its clubs
Gasol16 Ventures, alongside Fortified Partners, are leading a €55 million investment to drive the growth, professionalisation, and international expansion of Liga F and its clubs. The agreement seeks to reinforce the value of the players as the central pillar of the product, promoting their visibility and their integration as a common strategic asset.
30 JUN 2026
Liga F begins a new era with the incorporation of Gasol16 Ventures and Fortified Partners as strategic investors, a decision ratified by the clubs at the Extraordinary Assembly held yesterday in Madrid. The operation, valued at 55 million euros and to be executed over the next four seasons starting from the 2026-2027 campaign, represents the largest private capital investment made to date in women's competition in Europe. The agreement was officially presented today, 30 June, at an event attended by Pau Gasol, founder of Gasol16 Ventures, and Beatriz Álvarez, president of Liga F.
The investment aims to increase the added value of the Liga F product and its Clubs, strengthening its sporting, media, and commercial appeal, and expanding its revenue generation capabilities in the medium and long term.
A growing league attracting top-tier capital
This investment comes at a key moment for a competition that is rapidly growing and has enormous potential to further accelerate its development. In the 2024-2025 financial year, Liga F distributed 17 million euros among its clubs, almost doubled its accumulated television audience in two seasons, reaching 7.5 million viewers, and closed the year with revenues of 25.8 million euros.

"Women's football in Spain has made a spectacular leap in recent years: audiences have almost doubled in two seasons, and stadiums are increasingly full. Therefore, this is not a sentimental commitment to women's sport. It is an investment decision based on data, market trends, and the conviction that women's football represents a growth opportunity with enormous potential for value creation. Furthermore, there is an extraordinary opportunity to consolidate our own model for the development of women's football: connecting with new audiences, creating role models, building more innovative relationships with partners, and generating a sustainable growth model that favours talent retention, as we have already seen in some of the major international women's leagues," explains Pau Gasol.
Beatriz Álvarez Mesa, president of Liga F, commented: “Today, Liga F takes a very important step towards the future. This agreement allows us to look further ahead and equip ourselves with the necessary tools to continue building an increasingly strong, more competitive league with a greater capacity to generate value for our clubs. What excites me most about this alliance is not just the investment it brings, but the message it sends: there are people and institutions who believe in the potential of Liga F and want to be part of its growth. That says a lot about the journey we have all made and, above all, about the future we have ahead of us.”

She added: “Furthermore, having Pau Gasol is a true privilege. Pau represents excellence, leadership, and a way of understanding sport based on ambition, effort, and the ability to inspire. His decision to back Liga F is a sign of confidence in our players, our clubs, our management, and everything this competition can become. I am convinced that this alliance will help us accelerate our growth and continue to build, together, a Liga F that is attractive in sporting terms, economically sustainable, and socially relevant. Ultimately, it will be stronger and increasingly prepared to compete with the best competitions in the world.”
Gasol16 Ventures and Fortified Partners: capital, experience, and a long-term commitment
The investment will be structured around three interrelated strategic pillars: strengthening the clubs, enhancing the visibility of players as a central asset of the product, and developing Liga F's own capabilities as an organisation.
