LigaF celebrates its inclusion in La Quiniela as a historic step forward for the visibility and growth of its clubs.
LigaF participated in the official presentation event of La Quiniela, held at the High Performance Centre of the Superior Sports Council, in Madrid, in a season that is particularly significant for women's football. The regular inclusion of four matches from the competition on the betting slip from the start of the 2026/2027 campaign represents a historic step forward in recognition and visibility, while also opening up new opportunities to strengthen the development of clubs and the sustainability of professional women's football.
16 SEP 2026
The event was attended by the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón; the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España; the President of the High Council for Sports (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes; and the President of Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, Jesús Huerta, alongside the President of LigaF, Beatriz Álvarez, and representatives from women's football, sponsors, and other figures from the political world.
Following the welcome address by the President of the CSD, an opening video from Loterías y Apuestas del Estado was screened, dedicated to the role of women in La Quiniela and the significance of the regular inclusion of LigaF. This audiovisual piece introduced one of the central themes of the event: the recognition of women's football as part of a new chapter in the history of La Quiniela.
A panel discussion featuring the voices of the competition, clubs, and players
Next, journalists Sandra Riquelme and Andrea Segura moderated a panel discussion featuring the participation of Beatriz Álvarez, President of LigaF; Reyes Bellver, Director of Women's Football at the RFEF; Lola Romero, Director of Atlético de Madrid Femenino and Vice-President of LigaF; and Paola Ulloa, goalkeeper for Madrid CFF.
The panel brought together the perspectives of the competition's organization, club management, and the players themselves to discuss the scope of this integration. The presence of Paola Ulloa gave a voice to the protagonists of every LigaF matchday, placing the players at the heart of a conversation about recognition, opportunities, and the future.
During her intervention, Beatriz Álvarez highlighted the value of a measure that transcends its symbolic dimension and responds to a historical demand from women's football. “The presence of LigaF in La Quiniela is a recognition of the work carried out over the years by the players, clubs, and all the individuals and institutions that have driven our development. It means becoming a normal, stable part of one of our football's most recognizable spaces. It is another barrier broken down and an opportunity for more people to discover and follow our competition.”

The President of LigaF linked this progress to the need to translate the growing interest in women's football into concrete opportunities for the clubs. "Our objective is for every step in visibility to also translate into value for the clubs. Being in La Quiniela allows us to expand the competition's presence and secure a new funding stream that contributes to strengthening their structures. We want the sporting and social growth of women's football to be increasingly reflected in its stability and its capacity to continue developing."
Furthermore, Álvarez conveyed LigaF's gratitude to the institutions that have made this inclusion possible: "I want to express our thanks to the Government of Spain, the High Council for Sports, and Loterías y Apuestas del Estado for their commitment. Equality is also built through concrete decisions that generate recognition, resources, and opportunities. This step demonstrates the importance of continuing to work together to consolidate the future of women's football."
Lola Romero remarked that "this is historic. The thing that I like the most, that we clubs like the most, are things that are here to stay. We have been fighting, not just my 26 years, but the last four. We have taken the right steps to be taken seriously." Meanwhile, Paola Ulloa commented that "these girls can now be professionals, they can now think of football as a profession."
An 80th anniversary that opens a new chapter
Following the panel discussion, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado presented the advertising campaign spot for La Quiniela's 80th anniversary. Under the message “Now with women's football,” the campaign links the celebration of its eight decades of history with the regular inclusion of four LigaF Moeve matches this season, raising awareness of women's football and reflecting the evolution of Spanish football.
Subsequently, the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, spoke, highlighting: “We wanted this moment to arrive, and it has arrived. At last, we can celebrate that LigaF is part of La Quiniela. It is a matter of rights and opportunities, and of what role models we want the girls and boys growing up in our country today to have. For too long, women's sport has had fewer spaces, fewer resources, and less visibility. Today, thanks to decisions like this one, that reality is changing.”
Next, the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, indicated that “La Quiniela is celebrating eighty years having become, once again, what it has always been: a reflection of Spanish society. Today, that society is fairer, more egalitarian, and more plural. It is not a one-off nod to women's football, but a permanent mechanism within our regulatory framework.”

Greater visibility and new growth opportunities for clubs
For LigaF, entering La Quiniela is part of a strategy that seeks to expand the presence of women's football, bring the competition closer to new audiences, and consolidate a regular relationship with the fanbase. This objective connects with the commitment to greater audiovisual and digital broadcasting: it is not solely about achieving more notoriety, but about turning that exposure into sustained following and value for the clubs, the players, and the brands that accompany the competition.
Added to this dimension is the recognition of LigaF as a beneficiary of state sports betting, which opens up a new funding avenue to contribute to the economic sustainability, the improvement of structures, and the competitive strengthening of the clubs.
LigaF reaffirms its commitment to continuing to work alongside the clubs and institutions so that these advancements translate into a more solid, visible, and sustainable competition, capable of generating new opportunities and placing women's football in its rightful place within Spanish sport.
