Liga F and Moeve have officially presented the I Torneo Liga Futura Moeve, a new U12 competition created with the aim of promoting women's grassroots football and fostering the development of young footballers from an early age. The launch event, held in the Moeve auditorium, was attended by Beatriz Álvarez, president of Liga F, Maarten Wetselaar, CEO of Moeve, and institutional representation from José Manuel Rodriguez Uribes, president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes, along with Liga F Moeve club officials, media, and footballers who will participate in the tournament.
The Torneo Liga Futura Moeve, which will be held at Sevilla FC's Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros from 12 to 14 June, will be the first women's U12 tournament jointly organised by Liga F Moeve, and will feature 12 teams from professional competition clubs. The initiative represents a new step in both entities' commitment to continue strengthening the growth of women's football from the grassroots level and reinforce their joint commitment to sport, equality, and diversity to create role models for future generations.
During the presentation, hosted by journalist Andrea Peláez, the draw for the pairings was held, and with a performance by freestyler Paloma Pujol, the official ball for the tournament was unveiled. It also featured girls from the U12 teams of Atlético de Madrid and Madrid CFF, who will participate in the tournament and acted as 'innocent hands' during the draw, alongside José María Solana, Global Brand Director of Moeve.
This pioneering competition will feature three groups of four teams, who will face each other to determine the champions and runners-up of each group, along with the two best third-placed teams to complete the Quarter-Finals of the tournament. Following the draw, the teams have been placed as follows: Group A: Deportivo Abanca, FC Badalona Women, Madrid CFF and Atlético de Madrid. Group B: Costa Adeje Tenerife, Levante UD, FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC. Group C: Athletic Club, RCD Espanyol, DUX Logroño and Real Sociedad.
Beatriz Álvarez, president of Liga F, and Maarten Wetselaar, CEO of Moeve, spoke to highlight the importance of creating this tournament as a strategic initiative to continue promoting women's football and reinforce the joint commitment to sport, equality, and the development of young talent.
Beatriz Álvarez expressed her particular excitement “because Liga Futura is born to drive the growth of women's football from the grassroots, with the girls who will be the stars of tomorrow, and who will be able to dream of becoming Liga F footballers. It is the result of collaborative work with Moeve, with whom we share values and a common vision to generate positive impact in society and for future generations through women's football.”
She also wanted to “thank the participating clubs and Sevilla FC for hosting this first edition. United, we work to consolidate a strong, competitive, and sustainable professional competition, but we also have the responsibility to look to the future and continue strengthening the foundation upon which the growth of women's football will be sustained in the coming years. This will be the first of many editions, and I am convinced that Liga Futura Moeve will become a benchmark in women's grassroots football in our country, being one of the competitions that most relies on youth academies.”
For his part, Maarten Wetselaar highlighted that “I am very proud to be here because the stars of the future will pass through this tournament. Football is a space that connects people and breaks down barriers, which resonates with what we do at Moeve, because we precisely need to continue breaking down walls and transforming energy to achieve the sustainable future we all hope for.”
Sandra Villafañe, a first-team footballer for Madrid CFF who also attended the tournament's presentation, stated: “Women's football is advancing more and more. Creating tournaments like this is very important for girls to develop much further and to learn what a team is. It's important for them to enjoy themselves greatly and have a lot of fun. As a product of the club's youth academy, these tournaments encourage more and more girls to sign up for football. It is very important for the future of Spanish women's football to get better every year.”

The event concluded with José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, president of the CSD, who highlighted: “It means thinking about a future that is also educational. When we think about these girls who are the base of the pyramid, we think about role models. When I go to watch a Liga F match and I see girls and boys with Alexia's name on their backs, it's revolutionary. It's a qualitative element. A seed has been sown here. Thanks also to Moeve. Things work out well when done together. We are going to get the raw material from here. The CSD has been committed from minute one. Liga F will also be in La Quiniela, and we will all work together to grow.”
The tournament will kick off on Friday 12 June with the group stage, where the eight best-placed teams will be determined to advance to the Quarter-Finals. On Saturday 13 June, the Play-Offs will begin leading to the Grand Final to crown the champions of the Liga Futura Moeve 2026.
