Liga Futura Moeve, a debut edition to boost women's football
The first edition of the Liga Futura Moeve Tournament ended with the victory of FC Badalona Women. The top scorer and MVP of the tournament was Amalia Garewal, while the best goalkeeper was Gretta Suárez. Although the biggest triumph was for the 143 girls, who felt like professionals for the first time.

The Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros, home ground of Sevilla FC, hosted the first edition of the Liga Futura Moeve Tournament from June 12th to 14th. This was the first ever U-12 girls' tournament, organised by Liga F and Moeve, reflecting a firm commitment from both entities to foster the growth of young girls and women's football from the grassroots. Twelve U-12 teams gathered over the weekend, representing their Liga F clubs. Athletic Club, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Levante UD, Real Sociedad, Sevilla FC, FC Badalona Women, Costa Adeje Tenerife, Deportivo Abanca, RCD Espanyol, DUX Logroño, and Madrid CFF were the participating sides in a new championship where the girls were the undisputed stars. This initiative takes another step towards reinforcing equality in sport and creating future role models.
Friday, June 12th, saw the tournament kick off with the first and second matchdays of the group stage. On the morning of Saturday, June 13th, the quarter-final pairings were decided. Teams that did not qualify advanced to a Silver Phase, which had its semi-finals that same afternoon. Madrid CFF defeated DUX Logroño on penalties 0(3)-0(2), while Deportivo Abanca overcame Costa Adeje Tenerife 1-0. Meanwhile, the quarter-finals delivered plenty of excitement and fierce competition among all teams. FC Badalona Women beat Sevilla FC on penalties 0(3)-0(2), and Levante UD triumphed over RCD Espanyol (0-1). On the other side of the draw, FC Barcelona won 3-0 against Real Sociedad, and Atlético de Madrid secured a 0-1 victory against Athletic Club.
Sunday, June 14th, brought the Liga Futura Moeve Tournament to a close with the semi-final matches. FC Badalona Women won 3-2 against Sevilla FC, while Atlético de Madrid secured a 1-2 victory over Atlético de Madrid. Both teams earned their place in the tournament's grand final. Before that, however, the Silver Phase final was played, where Madrid CFF defeated Deportivo Abanca on penalties 1(2)-1(1). The final was characterised by its close contest, and the match once again went to an exciting and nail-biting penalty shootout. Ultimately, FC Badalona Women emerged victorious, winning 0(7)-0(6) against Atlético de Madrid to be crowned the first ever champions of the competition. It was a weekend where the focus of women's football was in Seville, and the girls from the twelve teams felt like professionals for the first time.

During the closing ceremony, in addition to presenting the champions' trophy to FC Badalona Women by Beatriz Álvarez, president of Liga F, and Moeve's executive vice-president of brand, José María Solana, medals were also awarded to the girls from all teams. Furthermore, Athletic Club player Julia Escudero, the only player to score a hat-trick in a match, received a ball signed by all her teammates and coaching staff, including Eli Ibarra, a legend of the Basque club. The former Spanish international and Athletic Club delegate was not the only recognised figure present. María Aymerich and Nagore Calderón accompanied the girls from Madrid CFF and Sevilla FC respectively, while César Azpilicueta attended to watch his daughter play, and Fatou Kanteh also came to experience the matches.
The five referees who officiated the 28 matches throughout the weekend also received their respective medals. Additionally, during the trophy presentation, two of the young players received individual awards. Amalia Garewal (FC Badalona Women) was presented with the top scorer trophy of the tournament, with 6 goals, by Amparo Gutiérrez, director of women's football at Sevilla FC. José María Solana also presented the Catalan team's forward with the award for the tournament's MVP. Meanwhile, Beatriz Álvarez presented Gretta Suárez (Atlético de Madrid) with the award for the best goalkeeper of the tournament, having conceded just 1 goal in 120 minutes. Although the 143 girls were the true protagonists of a weekend filled with excitement, football, and competition in the Andalusian capital, they experienced a unique event.
