Esther Laborde, versatility for Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad continues to shape its squad ahead of an exciting season, with the Champions League qualifiers on the horizon. Following the arrivals of Ainhoa Marín (Deportivo Abanca), Ainoa Campo (RCD Espanyol), and Laura Camino (SD Eibar), the txuri-urdin side has made the signing of Esther Laborde official, who joins from Madrid CFF. “I felt very happy from the moment I arrived. I am really looking forward to meeting my teammates, the staff, and getting started,” were the Catalan player's first words as a new member of the San Sebastián outfit. The Sant Cugat del Vallès native came up through the FC Barcelona youth academy, even making her debut for the first team before moving on loan to Deportivo Alavés, where she spent one season.
She has been playing for Madrid CFF since 2023, where she has established herself in the top flight, gaining experience at the elite level. “I am really looking forward to enjoying Champions League nights with my teammates and the fans,” said the Catalan, who stands out for her versatility, capable of playing as a centre-back, full-back, or as a holding midfielder. Last season, she played 1,355 minutes in Liga F Moeve across 25 matches—sixteen as a starter and nine as a substitute—in which she provided one assist. “I want to live the day-to-day and understand what Real Sociedad means. The people feel the colours, and they transmit that to you and make you feel like one of them,” stated the defender, who at 22 years old faces a new challenge in her career with the possibility of playing in the Champions League.
“I am a very aggressive player, eager to give everything on the pitch. I also really like playing with the ball, connecting with the fans and all my teammates, and enjoying myself,” explains the defender, who has signed with Real Sociedad until 2028. She has set ambitious goals for the coming campaign: “to finish third or secure that second spot. To fight to finish as high as possible and to compete in every match.” She is a footballer who stands out for her tactical intelligence, her great reading of the game, and her reliability and strength in defensive duties. “Since I stepped foot in Donosti, I’ve been eager to put on this shirt and play. The fans shouldn't doubt that we are going to give everything on the pitch,” concludes the Catalan footballer, who is now one more txuri-urdin.
