Danielle Marcano, the globetrotter who has made Liga F history

Valencia CF forward Danielle Marcano became the first Puerto Rican footballer to score in the history of Liga F Moeve. She has scored 2 goals this season, both with her head, and is also the only player in the league competition to have scored two headed goals this term.

A globetrotter who has managed to find her place in Spanish football, specifically at Valencia CF. Last summer, the *Che* outfit announced the signing of Danielle Marcano (Red Bank, 20 August 1997) as a new addition in their bid to return to Liga F Moeve. The striker arrived in the capital of the Turia after spells in four different countries. She netted 70 goals in high school, where she was named Georgia High School Association Female Soccer Player of the Year—a passion for football that she balanced while studying for a degree in psychology. After playing college football for the Tennessee Volunteers, where she featured as a full-back before moving upfront, she stepped out of her comfort zone in 2021 to move to Iceland, playing for two teams.

First at Kópavogur, where she scored 6 goals, followed by Thróttur, where she found the back of the net 9 times. Her next destination was Turkey, where she represented two clubs, Fenerbahçe and Fomget GSK, before signing for French side FC Nantes ahead of the 2024/2025 season, registering 1 goal and 1 assist in 21 matches. She joined Valencia CF last season and played a pivotal role in helping the club earn promotion back to the top flight, featuring for 1,565 minutes across 28 appearances in the Primera RFEF and the Copa de la Reina, scoring 9 goals—eight in the league campaign and another in the cup competition. This term, she has established herself as her team's main attacking focal point with 2 goals, the only ones scored by a *Che* player so far, as the rest have been own goals.

The forward scored against Logroño United (2-1), and although she couldn't prevent her side from slipping to defeat, she did manage to bag the first goal by a *Che* player since the *Blanquinegro* side's return to the top division. Furthermore, the attacker made history by becoming the first Puerto Rican player to score in Liga F Moeve. The striker struck again on the following matchday against Real Madrid CF (3-1). Curiously, both goals came via headers, making her currently the player with the most headed goals in the domestic competition this year. Although she represented the United States at youth international level, the forward plays her senior international football for Puerto Rico, and she stands as the chief attacking threat for a Valencia CF side looking to get off the mark after the international break.
