Following the arrivals of Laura Camino and Ainoa Campo, Real Sociedad has announced its third summer signing, Ainhoa Marín (Badalona, 21 March 2001), who arrives from Deportivo Abanca. “I am very excited. I am really looking forward to helping this club, the team, and above all, to learning from all of this,” the Catalan winger stated in her first words as a new player for the San Sebastián side. Having come through the youth ranks at FC Barcelona, where she remained from 2013 to 2018, she continued her footballing development at RCD Espanyol, with whom she made her top-flight debut on 16 September 2018. That same year, in October, she played in the U17 World Cup with the Spanish national team in Uruguay, winning the title, although she had to leave the squad early due to an injury.
In 2021, she arrived in A Coruña, a decision that changed her life. With Deportivo Abanca, she earned promotion to Liga F Moeve and secured two seasons of safety in the Primera División. “I hope my previous spell helps me a lot. I hope to help both personally and on the pitch, in the way that I believe has led me to be here, and I hope that the team, the city, and the club can help me improve and give my all,” she declared regarding her previous chapter. In her first season in the elite with the Galician side, she finished with 3 goals and 6 assists, while last season she was the club's top scorer with 6 goals, as well as becoming their top assist provider with 5 goal-creating passes. All this in 2,652 minutes across the 30 matchdays, making her one of only three players, alongside Natalia Ramos and Lauri Requena, to have played in every match.
“My congratulations to the squad for achieving a milestone like the Champions League last season. Thanks also to the club for allowing me to be here playing in something so beautiful, and I am very happy about it,” confessed the attacker, who will play in Europe's premier competition. Furthermore, the Catalan was the second-highest dribbler in the competition, with 122 completed dribbles and a 44% success rate. The winger also stands out for her ability to help in defence, with 5 balls recovered per match, and her duels won, 4.6 per game. “On a footballing level, I can bring out a new version of myself. It is one of the things that made me excited about something new,” expressed an Ainhoa Marín who will return to play at Zubieta, where she previously competed in the Donosti Cup. “They are very fond memories of my childhood,” concluded a player who is already one more 'txuri-urdin'.
